The first memory I have of my mother is of her sitting at the kitchen table, teaching me how to bake cookies. I was about five years old at the time, and I remember being fascinated by the process of mixing ingredients together and watching them transform into delicious treats.
My mother was a skilled baker and loved to experiment with different recipes. She would let me help measure out the ingredients, mix the dough, and shape the cookies. I loved the feeling of the flour on my hands and the sweet smell of vanilla and chocolate filling the kitchen.
As we worked together, my mother would tell me stories about her own childhood and how she learned to bake from her grandmother. She would also share tips and tricks for making the perfect cookies, like how to tell when the dough is ready and how to properly decorate them.
I remember feeling so proud when we finally took the cookies out of the oven and I got to taste the fruits of our labor. They were always delicious and my mother would always tell me that I was her little helper and that I did a great job.
Baking with my mother became a cherished tradition in our family. It was a way for us to bond and spend quality time together. Even as I got older, we continued to bake together and it became a special tradition that I looked forward to every year.
Now, as an adult, I still love to bake and I credit my mother for instilling in me a love for cooking and the importance of spending time with loved ones in the kitchen. Whenever I make cookies, I am reminded of those fond memories with my mother and it brings a smile to my face. I am grateful for the lessons she taught me and the memories we created together in the kitchen.
