For over 40 years, the GEPA Fair Trade Company has been promoting and adhering to criteria for fair trade. Coffee cultivation in cooperatives such as the ACPCU (Ankole Coffee Producers’ Cooperative Union) is carried out while maintaining ecological balance. In addition, the cooperative regularly organizes training in organic farming and encourages small-scale farmers to build their own livelihoods with the knowledge they have acquired. This has allowed many women to manage their own coffee gardens and contribute to the success of the cooperative. They have steadily increased their harvest quantities and the quality of their coffee through organic farming. In addition to the Fair Trade and organic premium, they also receive a quality supplement from GEPA. Through fair trade, their income is secured, allowing them to invest in the future and the education of their children.
